The hangar measures 77m x 58m overall with a 54.2m clear span and 12m high sliding doors at each end.

The Bonacci Group was successful in a design and construct tender for the PNG Defence Force Hangar at Jacksons Airport, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The project was won with a number of innovative features, including:
- the use of lightweight bolted trusses with cold-formed steel sections forming the truss chords.
- the use of a number of longitudinal crane girders fixed under the roof trusses and supporting a transverse monorail, giving crane access over the whole floor area. The longitudinal crane girders also provide bottom chord restraint and transfer end wall wind and seismic loads to a central braced bay.
- the assembly of the roof on the ground complete with cladding, lights and crane, and then jacking the completed roof into position.
- the use of simple details at the top of the doors to cater for roof deflections.
