Coal Stockpile Roof

The photograph shows the 120 metre span coal stockpile shelter after assembly and prior to jacking the second half of the roof. The finished building was 150m long.

The adopted solution comprised a floating steel piled system using groups of three vertical 610mm diameter piles for each superstructure column. The piles were about 40 metres long, with a 12mm wall thickness.
