The gross floor area of the building is 490,000 square metres under a roof area of 162,000 square metres. The principal quantities are:
Concrete: 345,000 cu. metres
Roof steelwork: 11,000 tonnes

The suspended floors are based on a cast-in-situ reinforced concrete system comprising 700mm deep band beams spanning 12.0 metres between columns, supporting 700mm deep ribs at 1,500mm centres and a 125mm slab.

The roof steelwork comprises a single-layer multi-bay barrel vault with a nominal span of 36 metres and rise of 6 metres. The vaults are formed from a lattice of diagonal and longitudinal elements.

The Bonacci Group carried out a review of the structural drawings and specification on behalf of the Provisional Airport Authority. A number of alternative structural solutions were identified with potential for substantial savings in cost and construction time.
